The debut of an exciting new mystery series featuring a cynical, crafty television producer turned amateur sleuth.
Clare O'Donohue scores a winner with Missing Persons, the first novel in O'Donohue's new series featuring TV producer Kate Conway. O'Donohue gives us a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the production of a TV crime show.
Missing Persons begins by showing Crime TV producer Kate Conway’s job of gaining the trust of unsuspecting interviewees in order to capture their story on camera. But during her work on a case, Kate’s soon to be ex-husband, Frank, turns up dead from unknown causes, and Kate soon finds herself on the other side of questioning when she becomes the main suspect in his death.
As a Crime TV producer, she pours all of her focus into the new television program Missing Persons. Her first case Theresa Moretti, a young, seemingly innocent woman who disappeared a year earlier. But the more interviews Kate conducts and the more facts that come to light, the more Kate realizes that Theresa may not have been as innocent as she seemed.
Missing Persons successfully combines parallel threads as Kate Conway explores the tragedy of a young woman missing for a year and simultaneously tries to figure out the dissolution of her own marriage and sudden death of her soon-to-be ex-husband Frank.
The first book in Clare O’Donohue’s new series, Missing Persons is very entertaining and introduces a fun new protagonist in Kate Conway. Kate’s character is smart, snarky and very likable. O’Donohue writes in a clear, strong voice with a style that flows from one page to the next as she expertly lays out the mystery and keeps the reader guessing.
CLARE O'DONOHUE is a freelance television writer and producer. She has worked for a variety of shows on HGTV, the Food network, the History Channel, and CourtTV among others. She is the author of the Someday Quilts mystery series.
